This week was a group of Irish CMAS divers, it was all good fun with
some naked diving?!!! and A 15m HUMPBACK WHALE IN SHARM !!! The water
was like glass all week, and hot hot hot still so lots of sun-cream
needed.
The week started at Ras Katty where the check dives were done. Ras katty
is not only good for check dives as it has a nice sandy bottom but its
also a good place to spot some endemic red sea fish. For example masked
butterfly fish, cubed red sea box fish, and of course the pink anthias
that scatter the reefs. We then headed over to Abu Nuhas "the grave
yard of the north" and dived the Ghiannis D where we yet again
we saw Dolphins, Dolphins tend to hang out in this area so if its your
wish to dive with Dolphins then its worth doing a northern trip. We
headed over to the Barge for the night dive which was beautiful and
most people saw blue spotted sting rays as well as Lion fish. The Thistlegorm
was the funniest dive of the week as we all did a night dive where 99%
of the boat went naked - not a sight that all divers would like to see
but adds some humor to the trip! The Thistlegorm is a stunning wreck
which is incredibly historical, motorcycles and cars can be found as
well as Schooling Bat Fish which loom around. We ended the week at Ras
Mohammed with plenty of schooling snapper and barracuda. Although we
didn't dive with the Humpback whale it was amazing to see such a beautiful
massive animal cruising through the Northern waters, this whale has
been spotted in Hurghada a few weeks ago so where he is off to next
is anyone's guess.... watch this space!

This week the trip was meant to go to Brothers wreck special but there
was a little too much wind to go to the Brothers so instead everyone
opted for a Get Wrecked instead. A big group on the boat from Enfield
BSAC.
We then headed over to Abu Nuhas "the grave
yard of the north" and divide the Ghiannis D where we were lucky
enough to have 2 dolphins with us for the whole time. An amazing site
and very memorable. We headed over to the Barge for the night dive.
A spectacular dive site with plenty of small critters to look at and
colorful nudi branch's. The following day we headed over to the Rosie
Moller which was great - thousands of glass fish scatter the wreck and
it really is a site to see. The following day we headed over to the
Thistlegorm - an excellent dive. Regardless how many times you dive
this shipwreck there is always something to see- The fish life is also
pretty amazing. Schooling Bat Fish loom around as well as snapper and
jacks. It was also the anniversary of when the ship was sunk. We ended
the week at Ras Mohammed with plenty of schooling snapper and barracuda.
despite the initial blow out the week was a success with some fantastic
diving.

This week Tracy described the boat as some of the best divers they
have had on a boat, also really good fun so a great week was had.
The week started at Ras Katty where the check dives were done. Ras katty
is not only good for check dives as it has a nice sandy bottom but its
also a good place to spot some endemic red sea fish, for example masked
butterfly fish, cubed red sea box fish, and of course the pink anthias
that scatter the reefs. We changed the order of our trip this week and
we headed over to Tiran first - Jackson reef was excellent as always
with plenty of Turtles. We then headed to Shark and Yolanda for a few
dives and Ras Um Sid. These reefs are famous in the red sea for their
vibrant colours, schooling snapper, barracuda and jacks and if your
lucky the odd shark. We headed over to Abu Nuhas "the Wreck
yard of the north" This reef system has been home to many crashes
which always pleases the wreck lovers out there! Rosie Moller was spectacular
- thousands of glass fish scatter the wreck and it really is a site
to see. The following day we headed over to the Thistlegorm - an excellent
dive. Regardless how many times you dive this shipwreck there is always
something to see.

This week was one large group from the North West Kent Sub Aqua Club.
The sun shined throughout the week but the wind had picked up this week,
however it was good diving had by all.
The week started at Ras Katty where the check dives were done. Ras katty
is not only good for check dives as it has a nice sandy bottom but its

yard of the north" This reef system has been home to many crashes
which always pleases the wreck lovers out there! WE dived the Ghiannis
D and the Carnatic before heading up to Malek Reef. This week was Project
Aware Clean Up week so everyone got their rubber gloves on and we did
a huge clean up both above and below the surface. Underwater we cleaned
up the Barge and we then headed over to Gubal island, after the clean
up we had a big game of Football with the crew!
Back in the water we steamed over to the Rosie Moller which was breathtaking
- thousands of glass fish scatter the wreck and it really is a site
to see. During the evening people enjoyed a nice drink in the jacuzzi
and watched the sun setting. The following day we headed over to the
Thistlegorm. We dived 4 dives here and each and every dive did not disappoint.
Turtles, Bat fish, Groupers, barracuda's and of course the impressive
ship make for an unforgettable dive.
Ras Mohammed was great , although it seems that the bigger fish have
headed back south and the currents have died down a little. However
this dive site is still one of the North best sites. Jacks, snappers,
trevallie's are all there minding their own business!

Schooling Bat Fish loom around as well as snapper and jacks. We saw
Dolphins at Gabul which were a joy to see - also on the way to Tiran
- Tiran was great - the back of Jackson was brilliant with HAMMERHEADS!
the hammerheads are always around the back of Jackson reef at this time
of year. There was also a beautiful Grey Reef at Ras Mohammed.
Ras Mohammed at this time of year is one of the best marine parks in
egypt - schooling fish everywhere. Exceptional diving.

David and Tracy have been waiting to do this trip for ages as the last
couple of times the sea was against them - Perfect conditions all week
with some amazing diving.
The trip started its check dives at Ras Katty before heading over to
Ghiannis D. Ghiannis D is a beautiful wreck that is home to many dolphins.
The conditions were perfect and everyone enjoyed the dive. It was time
to head down to the Brothers- A long trip but time to kick back and
relax. Perhaps its enjoying a post dive drink in the Jacuzzi or if its
eating the massive buffet meal that the chef prepares on a daily basis.
The bothers was fantastic with a whole heap of sharks to look at. Silver
tips, Grey Reefs, and Threshers. There was also the added treat of seeing
some eagle rays cruising past the reef.
Tracy was circled by a Malin while she was doing her safety stop - amazing
sight!
After the brothers the boat headed up to Safaga to dive the recently
sunk Salaam express - an eery wreck with some fairly recent history.
Hurghada has a couple of wrecks that are worth diving including EL Quafin
and El nina. Again perfect conditions to head back up to sharm to complete
the week diving The Thistlegorm, small crack, and the ever impressive
shark and yolanda- Schooling batfish, unicorn fish and barracuda are
absolutely breath taking at the moment.

Congratulations Due: Adam completed his AOW - well done : )
Steve and Malin enjoyed another week on Whirlwind with reports of really
really calm sea and a fantastic group - When I spoke to Malin she had
been crying all morning that the guests were leaving! you see they really
do love you guys.
Once everyone had done the check dives at Ras Katty it was time to start
the week for all those metal lovers. All 3 wrecks were dived at Abu
Nuhas the graveyard of the North. They managed to do a night dive on
the Ghiannis D which is vary rare, however the sea's were calm and it
was a perfect opportunity.
They also managed to do a night dive on the Dunraven which Steve and
Malin have only done twice before... she is a victorian ship that went
down and fish life is exceptional. Glass fish cover the whole wreck
from bow to stern. There are large numbers of groupers, jackfish, tuna
and scorpion fish.
The boat then went to The Thistlegorm which was perfect. Turtles and
bat fish were spotted all over the impressive wreck along with schools
of barracuda.

Steve and Malin enjoyed another week on Whirlwind with reports of really
really calm sea in sharm - and sharks-!!
They decided to do the trip in reverse and went
over to Dunraven first. She is a victorian ship that went down and fish
life is exceptional. Glass fish cover the whole wreck from bow to stern.
There are large numbers of groupers, jackfish, tuna and scorpion fish. The
boat then went to The Thistlegorm which was perfect. Turtles and bat
fish were spotted on all dives.
We then headed over to Abu Nuhas where we dived all three wrecks. Abu
Nuhas is known as the graveyard as it has taken so many ships. We saw
Dolphins at Gabul and all snorkeled with them.
Ras Mohammed was fantastic with Schools of Barracuda, snappers, unicorn
fish, batfish and the big surprise was the sharks. We had white tip
reef sharks as well as sand sharks and the larger Tiger shark.

Itinerary: Wrecks and Reefs
Congratulations Due: No Courses as a photo workshop was organised by
a private group of very experienced divers.
Like Whirlwind the check dives were done at Ras Katty. Some blue spotted
rays were sighted along with the red sea predators the lion fish. Shark
and Yolanda was kicking off this week - the group stayed and dived seven
dives there. 2-300 Barracuda, schools of snapper, schools of batfish,
white tips, and silky sharks. Stunning diving and some perfect conditions-
the weather was amazing with no wind and flat calm seas. All 3 wrecks
and Abu Nuhas were dived and the group had the pleasure of seeing Dolphins
at Giannis D.
A fantastic week for all divers. What we dream about.

Congratulations Due: It was a week for Techie courses- Danny Wright came
onto the boat to teach some extended range courses to Graham, Christine,
Alan and Charles. Danny also managed to teach Steve and Malin advanced
gad blender along with extended range and tri mix. Well done guys : )
Malin was very happy on the phone describing this week as excellent.
A lot of experienced divers on the boat and some excellent diving.
The first dive was at the Dunraven. She is a
victorian ship that went down and fish life is exceptional. Glass fish
cover the whole wreck from bow to stern. There are large numbers of
groupers, jackfish, tuna and scorpion fish. This week we also saw a
torpedo ray gliding over.
We then headed over to Abu Nuhas where we dived all three wrecks. Abu
Nuhas is known as the graveyard as it has taken so many ships. We saw
Dolphins at Gabul Rosalie.
We dived Rosalie Moller she is a deeper wreck and magnificent - vast
in size and has a slight "titanic" feel to her bow. Rosalie
was excellent with the added bonus of a Manta Ray cruising over the
wreck. There was also a Torpedo Ray in the shadows of the manta. Ras
Mohammed was fantastic as ever, big school of barracudas and jacks.

Congratulations Due: 1 Advanced Open Water Michael Fafalios
Like Whirlwind the check dives were done at Ras Katty. The red sea
predators the lion fish were dotted around. All 3 wrecks were dived
at Abu Nuhas. The water was flat as a pancake and the wind was non existent.
We spotted dolphins at Gabul both on the surface and later we spotted
them at small crack and we all grabbed our snorkels and jumped in. There
were 3 Adults and a baby.
This week we saw turtles on nearly everydive. At The Thistlegorm we
were the only divers in the water. There were a couple of boats to start
with but they left us to it. The current was not too strong this week
so we had some spectacular dives. Schools of bat-fish, and barracuda
hung around the impressive wreck. Shark and Yolanda had an array of
fish with plenty to ogle at and take pictures. We did two dives in Tiran.
Crocodile fish, nudi brachs pajama slugs, wrasse and butterfly fish
all inhabit the reef.
The weather is hotting up so make sure lots of sun-cream is on, the
wind is very calm and water getting warmer. Perfect conditions for Sharm.

Congratulations Due: Courses were taught this week by the groups instructor
This week there was a fairly big group on the boat from a dive club
- bringing with them their own instructors and teaching some advanced
courses. The weather was good and the water was nice and calm. Every
single dive we did this week we had the wreck to our selves - we timed
the dives so no other group was in the water. Not much wind this week
in sharm and you can really feel that it is hotting up.
The week started at Ras Katty where the check dives were done. Ras katty
is not only good for check dives as it has a nice sandy bottom but its
also a good place to spot some endemic red sea fish. For example masked
butterfly fish, cubed red sea box fish, and of course the pink anthias

groupers, jackfish, tuna and scorpion fish.
We then headed over to Abu Nuhas where we dived all three wrecks. Abu
Nuhas is known as the graveyard as it has taken so many ships. We had
a jacuzzi fest this week to see how many people we could fit in the
jacuzzi - although water not very warm it was all good fun!
We managed to dive Rosalie Moller (although not everyone did as there
was not enough experience) she is a deeper wreck and magnificent - vast
in size and has a slight "titanic" feel to her bow.
We ended our week diving the wrecks and Shark and Yolanda at Ras Mohammed.
Big Schools of barracuda, a shark was sighted, and plenty of turtles.

Sharks in Sharm are back again.
The week started at Ras Katty where the check dives were done. It was
a big group on the boat with some fairly experienced divers. There
was some wind this week however the diving conditions were great.
We were the only boat at the Thistlegorm so enjoyed 4 dives having
the impressive war ship to ourselves. There were plenty of Jacks and
Tuna around the Thistlegorm along with Turtles and an eagle ray.
We crossed over to Tiran where we saw the sharks - there were some white
tips both at Jackson and Thomas reef. Some excellent dives were had
by all on the boat at Thomas reef and the sharks topped it off as although
very experienced divers, some had never seen sharks!
Boat: Tempest
Dive Guides:David and Tracy
Itinerary: Wrecks and Reefs
Congratulations Due: We had a couple of people doing Open water referrals
and Advanced courses. Congratulations to Tammy who completed her OW
course and to Catherine who did advanced. A massive congratulations
for Tammy and Kelly who got engaged on the boat !
Loads and Loads of Turtles this week - including some baby turtles
- an amazing sight to see. There are lots of jelly fish at the moment
(don't worry they don't sting) and turtles love eating them so at this
time of year you get see some fantastic sights. Nature at its best!
Cyclone did more reefs this week then wrecks including Ras um sid, Ras
Mohammed, All four reefs at the straits of Tiran. There were spinner
dolphins at Tiran, tuna and barracuda at Ras Mohammed, snapper and jacks
at Ras Um Sid and the usual scatter of pink antheias that carpet the
red sea.
Tempest is a smaller boat with a very friendly group this week. Perfect
for the intimacy of smaller dive groups.

This week reports of hot sun, calm sea's and lots of fish! - Our first
day was spent at Ras Katty where we did our check dives - then we steamed
over to Dunraven where we did 2 dives, including the night dive. Plenty
of Lion fish, moray eels, and feather stars which at night resemble
big black spiders. We headed over to the Thistlegorm and had some excellent
conditions, the current was fairly mild, great photo opportunities of
the impressive wreck. We headed over to Shag Rock and The Kingston which
offered up an incredible drift dive. Gabul and island had lots of dolphins
hanging around so the whole boat took the opportunity to jump in and
go snorkeling with them. As the divers had enough experience we spent
a day at Rosie which was jelly fish alley - don't worry its not the
stinging type - its like something out of a star wars film. Abu Nuhas
was so calm this week that Typhoon was able to moor up on the North
side which doesn't often happen. Perfect for jumping in and getting
strait to the wrecks. Tiran was excellent this week which is where we
spotted some eagle rays and 3 swimming moray eels.
Shark and Yolanda also had big schools of barracuda, and snapper, and
also some more Dolphins.
The water is getting warmer and the conditions are improving week by
week with some calm days, bright sunshine and lots of fish.

Congratulations Due: George passed his Open Water (taught be his own
instructor), Paul, James F and James B did their Rescue (again taught
by their own instructor) and Tara did her AOW (Malin taught her)
Cyclone had a big group of The British Army onboard - it has been a
well run ship with a number of different dives a day to fit in with
all the courses and the regulations set out by the army. So a big well
done to Steve and Malin for managing to run everything smoothly. They
had their own instructor on board who ran 2 different courses.
Cyclone managed to get to Abu Nuhas and do Dunraven, Giannis D Chrisoula
K, Carnatic, Ulysses. Lots of Dolphins at Abu Nuhas along with an array
of jacks and barracuda milling around the wrecks. The highlight of the
week was the whole boat in bikini's singing YMCA on the top deck !
Thistlegorm was fantastic with little or no current, 1 other boat and
excellent visibility.
Steve and Malin are doing their final week on Cyclone and are looking
forward to starting on Whirlwind.

N completed TDI Nitrox.
This week reports of sharks in sharm (yes its time they were back)
hot sun - Barry managed to catch some sun in-between all the courses!
and very little wind. Our first day was spent at Ras Katty where we
saw our usual friends the pink anthias, lion fish, parrot fish and blue
spotted ray. Tiran was excellent this week which is where we spotted
the Grey Reef shark and also the White tip shark We also had Dolphins
at the surface for a good hour. At The Thistlegorm we were joined by
only one other boat however in the water we were the only divers. Reports
of barracuda snappers and jacks dominate the blue surrounding the Thistlegorm.
We saw Dolphins form the boat at Abu Nuhas but sadly they had gone by
the time we got into the water.
Shark and Yolanda also had big schools of barracuda, and snapper, and
also a Grey Reef was looming around the reef. Those who had enough experience
dived the Rosie, reports of beautiful vis and impressive amounts of
glass fish carpeting the wreck.
The water is getting warmer and the conditions are improving week by

courses. Deep, Navigation, Boat and Drift dives.
Lots of Dolphins this week - Temple and Gabul they were playing on the
surface and then underwater at Carnatic. All 3 wrecks were dived at
Abu Nuhas with plenty of pyjama slugs, nudi branchs, feather stars,
anthias, and the famous red sea predator the lion fish.

This week was a "Ray" week. We started the check dive at
Ras Katty where we saw a white tip shark, not a bad start to the
week. We headed over to Ras Um Sid and saw a 2m Manta Ray- the beautiful
ray played with a couple of the divers gliding in and out of their
bubbles. We then headed over to Abu Nuhas where we did 3 dives. Turtles
on everydive. We headed over to the Barge where we saw a Torpedo
Ray and an Eagle Ray. At the Thistlegorm we were the only boat for
all 3 dives. This impressive shipwreck gets talked about a lot in
magazines, over crowding and too many bubbles. however this proves
that good timing can really pay off. Reports of barracuda snappers
and jacks dominate the blue surrounding the Thistlegorm.
We saw Dolphins form the boat at Gabul, sadly they had gone by the time
we got into the water.
Shark and Yolanda also had big schools of barracuda, and snapper, a big
indication that the bigger stuff is on its way.

Dive Guides: Barry and Victoria
Itinerary: Brothers Wreck Specials
Boat: Cyclone
Dive Guides: Steve and Malin
Itinerary: Wrecks and Reefs
Congratulations Due: Luis + Maria both passed Nitrox, Frank did his
Deep adventure dive and Kirk was AOW
Both boats began the week doing the check dives at Ras Katty, however
Typhoon was doing a Brothers wreck special so after diving at Abu Nuhas,
Dunraven and Carnatic they steamed down to the Brothers. The crossing
was a little bumpy but as long as your happy to eat the amazing buffet
that is laid on every night, or chill watching a DVD the time goes quickly.
The dives at the brothers were fantastic with plenty of sharks at Numibia
including Hammerheads, Threshers and Grey Reefs. The Aida also had plenty
of shark action with Threshers and Grey reefs adding to the mystery
of these impressive wrecks. Typhoon then headed to little brother where
Barry came face to face with a Grey Reef - Mouth wide open sitting in
a cleaning station. Typhoon then headed up to Saleem Express, and El
Kahfin both in Safaga then onto El Mina in Hurghada - mostly metal was
seen on these dives! Typhoon then headed back up to the sharm area and
finished off doing some dives on the Thiestlegorm - The resident Moray
and Turtle were swimming around with the divers. reports of barracuda
snappers and jacks dominate the blue surrounding the Thistlegorm.
Cyclone was doing a wrecks and reefs itinerary. Lots of fun on the boat
with a mixture of dive ability. the weather around sharm was calm all
week and there was lots of sunbathing and chilling on the sun-deck in-between
dives. Cyclone was the only boat at the Thistlegorm for all three dives-
excellent news when you hear so often about the over crowding- Steve
and Malin try and time the itinerary so they don't bump into the other
boats.
Lots of Turtles this week , at Gabul, Jackson, Thomas, Ras Mohammed
and also it was nudi brach week . All the boat had a competition to
see who saw the most - and apparently Dave was the only one who missed
the little slugs!
Shark and Yolanda also had big schools of barracuda, and snapper, a big
indication that the bigger stuff is on its way.

Both boats began the week doing the check dives at
Ras Katty, it seemed that Typhoon and Cyclone were head to head for
the first part of the week with several "practical jokes" between
crew and guests alike! Cyclone have claimed to be the winners! Cyclone
saw 7 repeat guests which Steve and Malin were really happy about.
Its always nice to see familiar faces again ! Both boats had some
excellent diving. Typhoon covered most of the wrecks in the Sharm
area including Million Hope, Abu Nuhas, Thistlegorm, and the Dunraven.
Turtles have been reported everywhere- almost on every dive, however
the big news this week was a 2m Manta Ray at Ras Za'atar and a 3m
Manta Ray at Jackson Reef (only spotted by Typhoon boat). It appears
that its the right time of year for the mantas to come and play -
they were dancing and playing for a quite some time. Shark and Yolanda
also had big schools of barracuda, tuna, jacks and snapper.
Cyclone also did all the good wrecks around sharm including Million
hope, 3 dives at Abu Nuhas, Giannis D, Thistlegorm. They saw Dolphins
at Ulysses and Gobal. Big schools of barracuda at the Thistlegorm, Ras
Mohammed and schools of Jacks in Tiran.
The water is getting warmer and the conditions are improving week by
week with some calm days, bright sunshine and lots of fish.

Boat: Cyclone
Dive Guides: Steve and Malin
Itinerary: Get Wrecked
Congratulations Due: no courses taught this week
Sun Sun and more Sun was reported this week - no wind and the water
was as flat as a pancake.
Both boats began the week doing the check dives at Ras Katty. Like
all the check dive sites we pick places where people have a sheltered
bay, or calm waters and a nice sandy bottom just to ease them back into
it.
As both boats were doing a Get Wrecked Itinerary they managed to sail
most of the week around the same spots- all dives were timed so that
they were in the water at different times, however there was a bit of
a Tornado Marine Fleet theme going on ! Cyclone had a big group (big
hello to Gary and the gang from Steve and Malin) and Typhoon had a mixture
of different people, some rebreather divers were onboard therefore nice
long dive times.
Almost every wreck that can be covered in the sharm area got visited,
Dunraven, Carnatic, Abu nuhas, Marcus, Giannis D, Ulysses, Rosie Moller,
the barge, shag rock , Kingston, Thistlegorm, million hope and shark
and yolanda reef.
The sea conditions were beautiful both above and below the sea, no wind
and glorious sun shine above with Sea Eagles with their 2 chicks on
Gobal Islands. Dolphins on the Thistlegorm and Garbal. Rosie was alive
with fish, glass fish coated the wreck, blue fusiliers danced around
avoiding being hunted by big school of Jacks and Tuna. A baby stone
fish at the Thistlegorm and of course the resident Jeremy the giant
moray. The water is getting warmer and the fish are out celebrating
the end of their winter!

Typhoon just finished a wreck week with some experienced divers who
have done many a trip. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side
this week with many day boats not being able to get out of the jetty.
However we have managed to dive Thistlegorm, The Barge, and Abu Nuhas,
Dunraven, but we didn't make it to Rosie.
Under water is always beautiful no matter what's going on above and we
had some great dives exploring the mysterious ruins.

Congratulations Due: Its birthday's galore - happy birthday first and
foremost to Barry the Dive guide - Chisal and Rob
Boat: Cyclone
Dive Guides: Steve and Malin
Itinerary: Wrecks and Reefs
Typhoon just finished a wreck week with some
experienced divers who have done many a trip -it was time to offer a
different itinerary for them. After diving at Abu Nuhas it was time
to head down to Safaga and dive the Salam Express. They then headed
over to Al Kahfine (Ulster Queen) which is a car ferry that went down
a few years ago. It was then up to Hurghada to dive Haba Tallah and
El mina (meaning Harbour in Egyptian). It was then back to Abu Nuhas,
The barge, Rosie Kingston Thistlegorm and Dunraven. If wrecks are your
bag then these wreck weeks are spectacular. The highlight were Dolphins
at the barge! Cyclone's Itinerary this week was wrecks
and reefs. After the check dives it was over to Abu Nuhas. It was
a massive dolphin week with sightings at Giannis D and Gubal. Great
video footage and photo opportunities. The crossing to the Thistlegorm
was flat calm and after the day boats left we were the only boat - again
proving our theory that we try and schedule our itinerary around other
boats. There were big dog face tuna around theThistlegorm and the usual
turtle.
Ras Mohammed was spectacular with a massive school of big Barracuda's
clustered together staring at the divers passing through- the Barracuda's
are a good indication that some of the bigger stuff are on there way
back to the best marine park in the north! Jackson Reef and Thomas reef
in Tiran offered up some excellent vis and plenty of jacks.
The temp is getting warmer and this week there were some very hot spells
where people could sunbathe, it can get chilly at night with some wind,
however for those of you who are UK divers the sea temp is still considered
warm, the fish life is plentiful, and as long as you go with a warm
jacket you can stay toastie when the wind does pick up

Congratulations Due: Typhoon had 4 people doing AOW Rolin, Andrea,Felipe
and Jenny. Grazeila completed all her DM sections at home but has completed
her 60th dive so congratulations! also Greg did his 500th dive.
After a gentle check out dive Typhoon headed over to Abu Nuhas and
did the fantastic wrecks that lie there the Giannis D and the Dunraven,
most of the group this week were fairly new divers and enjoyed the dives
at the Barge - including a night dive. The crossing to the Thistlegorm
saw a few people suffer form a little bit of sea sickness, however it
was all better once they got to the Thistlegorm as there was only one
other boat - again proving our theory that we try and schedule our itinerary
around other boats.

12th Feb - 19th Feb Tempest and Typhoon
Water Temp 22-23 Air Temp 23-28 - Recommended suit 5 mm - 7 mm and hood.
Recommended clothes - waterproof wind breaker, hooded tops, jeans, shorts
and T-shirts. During the day there are spells of hot weather but there
is a bit of wind, in the evening the wind picks up.
Dive Guides: Juan and Khaled on Tempest and Barry and Victoria on Typhoon
Itinerary: Wrecks and Reefs
Congratulations Due: 1 person successfully passed Nitrox on Tempest so
well done to Gary
Typhoon has a big group on this week so the boat has been good fun according
to Barry
Both boats began the week doing the check dives at Ras Katty just to ease
everyone back into diving!
The wrecks around Abu Nuhas are all fairly close together so we spent
a couple of days diving Ghiannis D, Carnatic and Dunraven - It is Dolphin
heaven this week - Typhoon spotted them playing around Giannis D and Tempest
saw them at Giannis D and Abu Nuhas, some great photo opportunities
Typhoon did 3 dives at the Thistlegorm where they had the impressive wreck
all to them selves. There are turtles everywhere and these chilled out
sea friends have been spotted on almost every dive.
Tempest also had the Thistlegorm to themselves, this goes to show you that good
timing pays off. It is such a beautiful wreck but often many divers are diving
it, we endeavor to work around all the other boats and keep it as quite as possible.
Ras Mohammed and Jackson reef were spectacular and vis was about 25m. There are
rumours that there is an Oceanic white tip around Jackson reef so for those going
next week, keep your eyes peeled
It is a little windy at this time, however for those of you who are UK divers
the sea temp is still considered warm, the fish life is plentiful, and as long
as you go with a warm jacket you can stay toastie when the wind does pick up. |

Itinerary Wrecks and Reefs
Congratulations Due: 7 people on Cyclone passed Nitrox: Adam, Dawn, Susan,
Michael, Dill, Matt and Richard also big congratulations to Susan who
also did her AOW : )
Typhoon had 2 new people welcomed to the world of scuba diving so well
done Nick and Lynne for passing Open Water.
Cyclone has a big group on this week so the boat is both loud and fun
according to Steve and Malin.
both boats began the week doing the check dives at Ras Katty. Like all
the check dive sites we pick places where people have a sheltered bay,
or calm waters and a nice sandy bottom just to ease them back into it.
The wrecks around Abu Nuhas are all fairly close together so we spent
a couple of days diving Ghiannis D, Carnatic and Dunraven - Sightings
of a Leopard Shark and a white tip around the Carnatic and Kingston, and
a Turtle around Giannis D
Typhoon did 3 dives at the Thistlegorm - on the way to the wreck they
saw a boat that looked like it had crashed into Shark and Yolanda Reef
- Conditions were great at the Thistlegorm with glass fish everywhere.
On the way back Typhoon (the biggest and strongest boat in the Northern
Red Sea !) came to the rescue of same said boat that was stuck on the
reef. After much pulling and pushing the boat came unstuck and with its
rudder between its legs was dragged home!
Ras Mohammed and Jackson reef were spectacular and vis was about 25m
It is a little windy at this time, however for those of you who are UK
divers the sea temp is still considered warm, the fish life is plentiful,
and as long as you go with a warm jacket you can stay tostie when the
wind does pick up.

29th Jan - 5th Feb
Diamond - Get Wrecked
Water Temp 20 Air Temp 22 - Recommended suit 5 mm - 7 mm and hood. Recommended
clothes - waterproof wind breaker, hooded tops, jeans, shorts and
T-shirts. During the day there are spells of hot weather but there
is a bit of wind, in the evening the wind picks up.
This is Diamond's last trip with us so one to be remembered! We began
the week doing the check dives at Ras Katty. Like all the check dive sites
we pick places where people have a sheltered bay, or calm waters and a
nice sandy bottom just to ease them back into it.
The wrecks around Abu Nuhas are all fairly close together so we spent
a couple of days diving Ghiannis D, Carnatic and Dunraven -
Ghiannis D is a great dive - you have the opportunity to swim through
the Wheel house, which is on a big angle.
After a windy start we did manage to moor up at the Thistlegorm and got
a couple of good dives there, one of the guests saw some grey reef sharks,
always a great sight to see sharks around the wrecks to add to the mystery
and the underwater ghosts...
It is a little windy at this time, however for those of you who are
UK divers the sea temp is still considered warm, the fish life is plentiful,
and as long as you go with a warm jacket you can stay tostie when the
wind does pick up. |
