A great week for diving. The sun is still very hot and the diving conditions are still spectacular. Down in the south the water temp is a little warmer and the wind almost non existent this week.
We did our check dives in a secluded area with a sandy bottom, at Marsa Abu Dabab. This area is fantastic for giant turtles, guitar sharks, and for those lucky enough a chance to see Dennis the resident dugong. The coastal areas of Egypt are always offer up some great diving, masked angel fish, pipe fish, crocodile fish, and of course lion fish. We then headed over to Daedalus in the evening- a perfect time to get to know the group on the boat over a beer or coke on the main sun-deck and watch sunset. Daedalus is a fantastic site to see sharks, its also got some stunning reef fish and coral life. A whale shark was spotted by some divers on Hurricane - plus thresher sharks around.
We headed down to Deep south Rock and Zabargad - these islands are very close to each other and one can really see such a variety of life. We were very luck because we saw dolphins at Rocky. In the evening, its a great opportunity to check out the days footage, check out who has the best photo, read some books or alternatively you can catch up on some zz's. It appears that this week lots of fun and games!!
St Johns and Fury Scholes were excellent and did not disappoint with lots of swim through's and playgrounds. We then headed back to Elphinstone which was excellent as we had around 2 hours of diving under the boat with the Oceanic white tips, these curious sharks don't tend to go very deep so its a real opportunity to spend a long time with them at 5m. Our final dives were done at Marsa Abu Dabab, some people saw the Dugong and nearly everyone saw the giant Turtles.

A great week for diving. The sun is still very hot and the diving conditions are still spectacular.
We did our check dives in a secluded area with a sandy bottom, at Marsa Abu Dabab. This area is fantastic for giant turtles, guitar sharks, and for those lucky enough a chance to see Dennis the resident dugong. In the last few months the guides have noticed a very small dwarf horse pipe fish, this is not found in any guide books and is a cross between a pygmy sea horse and a pipe fish. The coastal areas of Egypt are always offer up some great diving, masked angel fish, pipe fish, crocodile fish, and of course lion fish. We then headed over to Elphinstone to do the afternoon dive. There were no sharks at Elphinstone but the coral life is fantastic and there is plenty of life including giant morays, lion fish and Napoleon wrasse. We headed over to Brothers in the evening. Everyone could sit out and enjoy sun set on the deck and relax after the firsts day diving. Big Brother was excellent as usual. This dive site is renowned for its larger then life fish and it did not disappoint with Grey Reefs, Thresher sharks and a silky everyone left with a big smile on their faces! We headed over to little brother where again threshers and grey's hung around. Little Brother also has a massive Gorgonian Sea Fan "forest" sitting at about 30 m one can dive past the most enormous sea fans, look out for the smaller fish that like to live in these sea fans including ornate ghost pipe fish.
We headed over to Daedalus in the evening, its a great opportunity to check out the days footage, check out who has the best photo, read some books or alternatively you can catch up on some zz's. But most people's favorite activity is to enjoy the huge buffet meal the chef prepares every night. Daedalus did not disappoint with up to 10 hammerheads cruising around in the North Plateau. There was also an Oceanic white tip around the boat for a long time so everyone had a chance diving with these curious sharks. Daedalus also has a fantastic anemone city which is a photographers dream. We spent the last day at Elphinstone and Marsa Abu Dabab where everyone saw the Dugong - happy faces from everyone!

A great week for diving. The sun is still very hot and the diving conditions are still glorious.
We then headed over to Daedalus. The sun was shining all week and it was very hot and the crossing was very calm and everyone could sit in the evening sun having a drink or sit in the Jacuzzi. Daedalus is always a great dive. With less boats visiting it then other of the marine parks in the south it enjoys a wealth of marine life. There were a few sharks around but the water is still a little warm for them to be shallow so they tend to be down past 40 m however there was an Oceanic white tip around the boat for a long time so everyone had a chance diving with these curious sharks. Daedalus is still excellent for some fantastic wall diving, masked angel fish, pipe fish, , and of course lion fish can always be seen. Daedalus also has a fantastic anemone city which is a photographers dream. We headed over to Rocky and Zabargad. These two islands are close together and the diving offers very pretty walls. You can get all kinds of fish here including the Bumper head parrot fish. We then headed over to St Johns- Habibi Alley is a great dive, often some strong currents but a good variety of soft corals and hovering barracudas. The next day we went to Fury Scholes - lots of very interesting caves and swim thoughs. During the evening its a great opportunity to check out the days footage, check out who has the best photo, read some books or alternatively you can catch up on some zz's. But most people's favorite activity is to enjoy the huge buffet meal the chef prepares every night. We spent the last day at Elphinstone - its close to shore but one of the better sites in the south. Strong currents can be found here which is always a good indication that bigger stuff is around.

A great week for diving. There was some wind this week but good sightings of fish, hot sunshine and a happy bunch on the boat.
We did our check dives in a secluded area with a sandy bottom, at Marsa Abu Dabab. This area is fantastic if you have a look in all the sea grass. As well as smaller slightly odd things like sea moths there are also giant turtles, guitar sharks, and for those lucky enough a chance to see Dennis the resident dugong.
We headed over to Daedalus, you can usually spot hammerheads here but the water was a little to warm for them this week and they were hiding. However there were barracuda's, snapper, and a couple of people saw a large tuna swim past. In the evening we crossed over to Rocky and Zabargad. These two islands are close together and offer very pretty wall diving. At Rocky we saw a Manta Ray which was amazing, gracefully gliding through the water. To everyone's amazement we saw baby turtles hatching at Zabargad, an amazing sight. There was also sightings of the bumper head  parrot fish. We then headed up to Fury Scholes - lots of very interesting caves and swim thoughs. The evening time is a great opportunity to check out the days footage, check out who has the best photo, read some books or alternatively you can catch up on some zz's. We spent the last day at Elphinstone - its close to shore but one of the better sites in the south. Strong currents can be found here which is always a good indication that bigger stuff is around. In the distance we saw some schooling hammerheads. A great week
Grand Sea Serpent was doing simply the best. Brothers was a little rough but under the water the diving was amazing. There was sightings of Hammerheads at little brtoher as well as an Oceanic White tip - this is a good indication that the Oceanic is back for the season, so start looking out for these magnificent creatures. There were also Grey Reefs who hang out on both the wrecks at Big  Brother. To everyone's delight the guests all saw the dugong who was hanging around in Marsa Abu Dabab which was dived on the last day.

Congratulations due: A Big well done to Sarah and Johnathan who completed their Advanced open water on the boat - there were also a few Nitrox passers with David and Jules, sarah and Johnathan, julie, mantas and Claire.

Summer had really set in now with flat sea's and hot hot sunshine.
We did our check dives in a secluded area of Marsa Schooner and Marsa Abu Dabab. Both these places are close to Marsa Alam and have a nice sandy bottom, at Marsa Abu Dabab. The coastal areas of Egypt are always offer up some great diving, masked angel fish, pipe fish, crocodile fish, and of course lion fish. Dennis the Dougong was out and about showing his impressive eating habbits. We also saw some guitar sharks and giant green turtles who eat the sea grass.
We then headeddown to St Johns during the evening - St Johns is a long way from Marsa Alam but luckily there was very little wind this week so the crossing was very calm and everyone could sit in the evening sun having a drink or sit in the Jacuzzi.
During the evening there is ample opportunity to check out the days footage, check out who has the best photo, read some books or alternatively you can catch up on some zz's. However most people's favorite activity is to enjoy the huge buffet meal the chef prepares every night.
St Johns and Fury Scholes is always very pretty. The topography is simply stunning with lots of swim through's and little caves to explore. There were plenty of sightings of Dolphins this week doing their stuff and showing us how clever they are in the water!
We ended the week at Elphinstone. This reef is teaming with fish. If its the bigger pelagic you like you simply have to look into the blue - A thresher was spotted, although a little deep at 45m. Elphinstone is also home to 1000's of beautiful reef fish including giant green moray eels and scorpion fish.

There was very little wind this week so the crossing was very calm and everyone could sit in the evening sun having a drink or sit in the Jacuzzi. Daedalus was brilliant with Hammerhead sharks playing on the first dive - one was even at 10m for a while feeding off the reef. Plenty of Barracuda and Jacks and some large tuna all frequent the blue blue waters.
During the evening we crossed over to Rocky, its a great opportunity to check out the days footage, check out who has the best photo, read some books or alternatively you can catch up on some zz's. However most people's favorite activity is to enjoy the huge buffet meal the chef prepares every night. Rocky was a great dive with a couple of people seeing some hammers and the best part of the dive was the huge bait ball of sardines that graced us with their presence. One diver seemed to be caught in the middle of them. Truly amazing. There were more Sightings of Grey Reefs, tuna, jacks,

Joe described this week as good diving and calm waters. The water is getting much warmer and even hit 26 degrees around St Johns. Visibility was great - a little overcast in the week but water and fish life at its best.
We did our check dives in a secluded area with a sandy bottom, at Marsa Abu Dabab. The coastal areas of Egypt are always offer up some great diving, masked angel fish, pipe fish, crocodile fish, and of course lion fish. We then headed over to Daedalus. There was very little wind this week so the crossing to Daedalus was very calm and everyone could sit in the evening sun having a drink or sit in the Jacuzzi. Daedalus was excellent with Schooling hammerheads (there were at least 15 of them) also some Grey reef sharks as well as Jacks and Barracuda who hover around in the shallows waiting for smaller fish to loose concentration for a second and become a tasty snack. The corals are scattered with our smaller friends, hawk fish, squirrel-fish and often you see turtles around. We stopped at Rocky and Zabagard which had lots of barracuda lurking around.
During the evening we crossed over to St Johns, its a great opportunity to check out the days footage, check out who has the best photo, read some books or alternatively you can catch up on some zz's. But most people's favorite activity is to enjoy the huge buffet meal the chef prepares every night. Again some more incredible dives -There were more Sightings of Grey Reefs, tuna, jacks, and big barracuda's but the big surprise was another group of schooling hammers - not bad for a weeks diving. We ended up going to Fury Scholes on the way home which was beautiful. Lots of swimthroughs and canyons - topography is stunning. We ended at Abu Dabab at the end of the week and everyone saw dennis the dugong. Everyone very happy !!

This week reports great vis and excellent summer water, a little bit of wind and the return of the oceanic white tip.
We did our check dives in a secluded area with a sandy bottom, a couple of people saw the resident dougon (dennis ), not a bad start to the week.
There was a little bit of wind this week but as Hurricane is Steel boat she glides through the water with ease. We crossed over to Daedalus and did 3 dives. Thresher sharks, Gray Reefs were spotted, as well as Jacks and Barracuda who hover around in the shallows waiting for smaller fish to loose concentration for a second and become a tasty snack. The corals are scattered with our smaller friends, hawk fish, masked butterfly fish, squirrel-fish and occasionally you get the chance to see the great Napoleon wrasse.

This week reports great vis and excellent summer water. Not only warming up, but clearing up.
We did our check dives in a secluded area with a sandy bottom, most of the time we try to take you to the area where the resident dougon lives (dennis ) Its a great way to get you back in the water, check your weights, and get wet again !
There was hardly any wind this week which always makes it easier for the crossings over to Brothers. The Sharks were out playing this week with sightings of Threshers and Grey Reefs.
During the evening we crossed down to Daedalus. The wind picked up a little but as Hurricane is a steel boat then she tends to go through the waves very smoothly. Again there were more Sightings of Grey Reefs, tuna, jacks, and big barracuda's. During the evening its a great opportunity to check out the days footage, check out who has the best photo, read some books or alternatively you can catch up on some zz's. We always do our check dives in a secluded area with a sandy bottom, most of the time we try to take you to the area where the resident dougon lives (dennis ) Its a great way to get you back in the water, check your weights, and get wet again !
There was hardly any wind this week which always makes it easier for the crossings down to Daedalus. One of the better marine parks in the south we were very lucky with the shark sightings. Hammerheads, Grey Reefs and the odd thresher were seen by everyone - Vis was 30-40m throughout the week.
During the evening we crossed over to St Johns. The water was like a mirror so conditions couldn't have been better. Again there were more Sightings of hammerheads, tuna, jacks, Grey Reefs sharks and big barracuda's. During the evening its a great opportunity to check out the days footage, check out who has the best photo, read some books or alternatively you can catch up on some zz's. At the start of the week the check dives were done at the usual spots of Marsa Abu Dabbab and Marsa Schooner. These are ideal for check dives as there is a nice sandy bottom and its fairly sheltered. If your lucky you can see Dugong here.
There was hardly any wind this week which always makes it easier for the crossings over to Daedalus where we saw some fantastic stuff starting off with a big Manta Ray, thresher sharks, and many jacks, barracuda's turtles and of course the beautiful pink anthias that cover the red sea like a blanket.

During the evening we headed down to St Johns, the evening its a great opportunity to check out the days footage, see who has the best photo, read some books or alternatively you can catch up on some zz's. But most people's favorite activity is to enjoy the huge buffet meal the chef prepares every night. St Johns saw some beautiful dives with the most amazing underwater disco of a huge sardine bait ball which was being hunted by 4 grey reefs darting in and out of the disco ball
We ended our week back at Abu Dabbab where we were delighted to see the return of Dennis the Dougon who graced us with his presence.

17th-24th Feb Hurricane - SIMPLY THE BEST

Water Temp -22-23 Recommended suit 5 mm - 7 mm (with a hood ).

Congratulations due: 3 Nitrox divers - Dit, Dave Wardle and Kevin

This week saw a trip full of policeman - a very jolly group who apparently didn't need much sleep!
At the start of the week the check dives were done at the usual spots of Marsa Abu Dabbab and Marsa Schooner. If your lucky you can see Dugong here.
There was hardly any wind this week which always makes it easier for the crossings over to the brothers and down to Daedalus. We started at Big Brother where we had some encounters of Thresher sharks, although they were not so close as they were last week. We spent a couple of days at each island. Grey Reefs are always spotted especially near the wrecks Namibia and Aida.
During the evening we crossed over to Daedalus which is one of my favourite sites in the red sea. Sightings of Hammerheads, Oceanic white tips around the boat and reefs and clusters of jack's and barracuda's. During the evening its a great opportunity to check out the days footage, check out who has the best photo, read some books or alternatively you can catch up on some zz's. But most people's favorite activity is to enjoy the huge buffet meal the chef prepares every night.
We ended our week at Elphinstone - the oceanic white tip was not there this week, time for the Hammer heads to come over......

The wind died down this week and the crossing over to Brothers was fairly calm. We had many technical courses this week with a very high level of diving- We started at Big Brother where we had several encounters of Thresher sharks- they were on almost every dive around the south tip of big brother. Jo got some great footage on his video camera. We spent a couple of days at each island. Grey Reefs are always spotted and the big barracuda's did not disappoint. Due to the change in water temp the vis was not at its best, a little green however anyone who has dived in other areas of the world will no doubt agree that 15m is still pretty good!
During the evening its a great opportunity to check out the days footage, check out who has the best photo, read some books or alternatively you can catch up on some zz's. But most people's favorite activity is to enjoy the huge buffet meal the chef prepares every night.
We ended our week at Elphinstone - the good news is that the Oceanic white tips are still there (just) there was 1 that was happily sharking around under the boats, however it is more then likely that this will be one of the last weeks, bring on the hammerheads.....

Congratulations due: 2 people successfully passed Nitrox course so well done to Roland and Hesham

The wind died down this week and the crossing over to Brothers was fairly calm. There were some currents at the brothers but also some Thresher sharks, Gray Reefs,Barracuda, Jacks, Napolean Wrasse.
We spent a day and a half diving the impressive Daedalus reef where we spotted some Hammerheads. Daedalus is a fantastic reef teaming with palagics and hard and soft coral.
During the evening we crossed down to Elphinstone, again the wind was on our side so it was a smooth crossing. During the crossing its a great time to check out the days footage and compare who has the best photo's alternatively you can catch up on some zz's or just relax and enjoy the huge buffet meal the chef prepares every night.
Elphinstone is always an impressive dive- although they have been there for the last 4 months the Oceanic white tips are heading off to other parts - however this does mean that its time for the hammerheads to step up and take their place.
We had a birthday party on the boat this week from one of the Greek customers so it has been a fun week

Itinerary Daedalus, Rocky Zabargad
Congratulations due: 3 people successfully passed Nitrox course so well done to Nick,Chris and Phil : )
At the start of the week the check dives were done at the usual spots of Marsa Abu Dabbab and Marsa Schooner. These are ideal for check dives as there is a nice sandy bottom and its fairly sheltered. If your lucky you can see Dugong here.
The wind died down this week and the crossing over to Daedalus was calm. We spent a day and a half diving the impressive Daedalus reef where nearly all the boat got to check out the Thresher sharks which are playing around 30m, a friendly turtle and plenty of Barracuda's.
During the evening we crossed down to Rocky and Zabargad area, again the wind was on our side so it was a smooth crossing. During the crossing its a great time to check out the days footage and compare who has the best photo's alternatively you can catch up on some zz's or just relax and enjoy the huge buffet meal the chef prepares every night.
Rocky and Zabargad always offers up some exciting dives - the sea temp is a degree warmer down south which pleased some of our guests!
We ended our week at Elphinstone - the good news is that the Oceanic white tips are still there- for all of you who are camera fanatics you really can get up close and personal to these big fella's.

Water Temp 22 Air Temp 24 - Recommended Suit - 5 mm - 7 mm and hood. Recommended clothes - waterproof wind breaker, hooded tops, shorts and T-shirts. Day time is warm however evening is windy.

At the start of the week the check dives were done at the usual spots of Marsa Abu Dabbab and Marsa Schooner. These are ideal for check dives as there is a nice sandy bottom and its fairly sheltered. If your lucky you can see Dugong here. It was then time to head over to the brothers - it was quite a windy crossing but we did manage to get there, even if it was a little later then planned!
We had some amazing dives and were lucky enough to see at least 4 thresher sharks. These graceful men in grey suits are not hiding at silly depths but playing at 30m.
During the evening we crossed over to Daedalus, its a great time to check out the days footage on the big screen, or catch up on some zz's or just relax and enjoy the huge buffet meal the chef prepares every night.
Daedalus had some good dives, a couple of grey reef sharks were spotted, if your lucky you can look into the blue and see the hammers - they are there!
We ended our week at Elphinstone - the good news is that the Oceanic white tips are still there- for all of you who are camera fanatics you really can get up close and personal to these big fella's.
