Swiss-founded with an international management team, the resort was carefully constructed with traditional methods for a small number of select guests embracing sound eco tourism principles. The native architectural style of the main building and bungalows was hand crafted by local artisans using traditional, manual tools. Although one of the world’s most remote resorts, accessibility is made easy with a privately chartered flight delivering guests direct from Bali, to Wakatobi's own private air-strip less than a mile from the resort. Wakatobi Dive Resort offers all the usual western amenities; hot and cold fresh water throughout the property, 24-hour electricity, satellite communications, in-room LAN ports with 24 hour internet access, and more. The team of gourmet chefs create wonderful local and international cuisine.

There are five levels of accommodation and what sets them apart is their location and appointment level. All are available with a combination of a king-size bed and twin beds (up to three adults or two adults and two children). All bungalows are beautifully hand-crafted in wood with a balcony in front as well as a couple of lounge chairs and with a hammock and umbrella there’s space to sit back and relax. Our advertised package is 7, 10 or 11 nights in a beach bungalow with a 3 boat dives per day (tanks & weights) on a Full Board basis, including international flights from the UK to Bali on Malaysian Airlines (via Kualar Lumpur in each direction). 1 night in Bali on a B&B basis and Seaplane transfers to/from Wakatobi Island are also included.
