Mabul
The last island on the Borneo shelf before the ocean floor drops to some 800m Mabul is regarded among the international diving community as one of the worlds best "muck diving" areas and is a macro photographers paradise. Species such as nudibranches, ghost pipefish, devil scorpionfish, stonefish, mantis shrimps, mandarin fish, ribbon eels, snake eels, frogfish, seahorses and crocodile fish are commonly found around this area.

Sipadan
Rising 600m up from the Celebes Sea and long on the hit list for many scuba divers, Sipadan is still considered among the top ten dive sites in the world. With the such an amazing diversity of marine life it is not hard to see why this island is so popular. There is plenty of big fish encounters , schools of barracuda, reef sharks, trevally, bumphead parrotfish, and even the chance of hammerheads. Also if you take the time to look closely at the walls you'll often see a wealth of macro life.

Kapalai
Formed at the edge of a sandbank Kapalai is considered as a macro lovers paradise. Most dives in Kapalai are in relatively shallow water so are perfect for the less experienced , as well as yielding sufficient rewards for those with plenty of dives under their belt. Leaf scorpionfish, crocodile fish, lionfish, shrimps and gobies are frequently seen here. Further out to the deeper water there have been sightings of whitetip reef sharks.

Mataking
Spilt at high tide into 2 islands Mataking offers an amazing assortment of macro wonders from pygmy seahorses, frogfish and cuttlefish. Whalesharks have also been spotted here during the peak season. When the current gets strong here it is possible to see grey reef sharks, whitetip sharks and even hammerheads. A quieter resort on the island often means the dive sites here are less crowded and give you the chance to get away from the bubbles.

Roach Reef
Due its exceptional location at the edge of the Borneo shelf, pelagics like manta's , eagle rays and giant trevallys can be seen here. Home to 2 small wrecks this area is home to a range of marine life including lionfish, scorpionfish, stonefish, moray eels and octopus.
